DASH DISASSEMBLY 99-8211 2000-2004 TOYOTA AVALON (column shift models) A 1 Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 2 Unsnap the trim below the climate control to reveal (2) 10 MM bolts B and remove. (Figure A) 3 Carefully pull air vents above radio towards rear of car to unsnap. Note: There are (3) snaps, (2) are at the bottom C sides and (1) is at the top middle of the vent assembly. DASH DISASSEMBLY 99-8211 2000-2004 TOYOTA AVALON (console shift models) A 1 Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit. 2 Open the center console armrest, unsnap cover above cup holder and remove (2) Phillips screws toward B the outside of the panel. (Figure A) 3 Lift up and remove shifter trim/ashtray assembly. (Figure B) 4 Unsnap black cover from under climate C controls and remove (2) 10 MM bolts. 99-8211 DIN Head Unit Provision A Slide the mounting bracket 1 onto the 99-8211 until side clips engage. (Figure A) Slide factory climate controls 2 into the 99-8211 and secure using the factory hardware. (Figure B) Slide the DIN cage into the Radio 3 Housing and secure by bending the B metal locking tabs down. (Figure C) Slide the aftermarket head unit 4 into the cage and secure. KIT ASSEMBLY 99-8211 ISO DIN HEAD UNIT PROVISION A Slide the mounting bracket onto 1 the 99-8211 until side clips engage. (Figure A) Slide factory climate controls 2 into the 99-8211 and secure using the factory hardware. (Figure B) Mount the ISO Brackets to the 3 head unit with the screws sup- B plied with the unit. Slide the head unit into the radio 4 opening until the side clips engage. (Figure C) Snap the Trim plate into the 5 Radio Housing. C 4

99-8211 A A) Strip wire ends back 1/2" B B) Twist ends together C) Solder C D) Tape D Locate the factory wiring harness in the dash. 1 Metra recommends using the proper mating adapter and making the connections as shown. (Isolate and individually tape off the ends of any unused wires to prevent electrical short circuit) 2 Re-connect the negative battery terminal and test the unit for proper operation. 3 Reassemble radio and dash assemblies in reverse order of disassembly. 5 FINAL ASSEMBLY
