First, charge the battery prior to use. Note that the battery of a newly purchased camera is not charged. Charge the Battery You can use either of the two following methods to charge the camera’s battery. • USB adapter • USB connection to a computer • To charge with the USB adapter 1. Turn off the camera. Check to make sure that the camera’s monitor screen is blank. If it isn’t, press [ON/OFF] (Power) to turn off the camera. 2. Connect the camera with the USB cable as shown. • To charge using a USB connection to a computer The battery loaded in the camera is charged whenever the camera is connected directly to a computer with the USB cable. • Depending on the setup of your computer, you may not be able to charge the camera’s battery over a USB connection. Checking Remaining Battery Power As battery power is consumed, a battery indicator on the monitor screen indicates remaining power as shown below.
