Charger A cradle that charges an accessory handset. It connects to power but not to a phone line. Accessory A handset that works with an expandable phone base. Handset Accessory handsets must be registered to a base. Standby The handset is not in use. If it is off the cradle, no line has been activated. No dial tone is present.

When in standby mode, the new handset number will be displayed. The handset will automatically be allocated with the next available handset number.
