Getting Started Read this first Before you use your phone, you must first set it up. Here’s a quick way to set up your phone: Steps 1 to 5. Getting Started Notes • Use only the supplied AC-T46 AC power adaptor. Step 3 Preparing the battery pack Charge the battery pack for more than 12 hours before you start using your cordless handset. 1 Slide open the battery compartment lid of the cordless handset. Getting Started About the station number When you start charging the battery, “HANDSET 1” HANDSET 1 appears on the display of the cordless handset. This shows the ID number for each cordless handset and base unit of the system, called “station number.” The station NEW OLD MASSAGE RING OFF number of the base unit is set to 0 and that of the cordless handset (supplied with the base unit) is set to 1 at the factory. Step 4 Choosing the dialing mode For the telephone to work properly, select an appropriate dialing mode (tone or pulse). When you set the dialing mode with the cordless handset, make sure the other cordless handsets* are not in use before you start the setting. Getting Started Step 5 Entering the area code When you use this phone for the first time, or move to an area that has a different area code, you must enter the area code. Otherwise, you cannot use some functions of this phone and the Caller ID functions. This is also necessary because the phone must be able to select an area code to properly dial a call from the Caller ID list. Depending on your region, enter the 3-digit area code as follows: Case 1.
