Installation Remove the covers. Trim the plaster shields so that they extend 1/16” outside the surface of the finished wall Seal the wall around the plaster shields with waterproof sealant. Failure to seal the wall can lead to possible water damage. Use a 17 mm deep socket wrench to remove the cartridges. Install the new cartridges. The hot cartridge is marked with notches. 3

Push the extension spindle over the stem. Cut the exten- sion spindle so that it extends 3/16” outside the surface of the finished wall. Remove the plug from the spout port. Thread the coupling over the stem. Cut the coupling so that it extends ¼” outside the surface of the finished wall. Add 1 ¾” to this measurement. Cut the connecting thread so that it is X + 1 ¾” long. Wrap the threads on the connecting thread with Teflon tape (1).
