If those recorders do support more hard disks, they usually use RAID (Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks) or SCSI disks, which are very expensive. With the Expandable IDE Hard Disk Architecture, the EDR1600 can support up to 18 pieces of IDE hard disks that are hot swappable.
